What drives me? What motivates me to get up early every morning and go through the same routine over and over again? For my first post (yay!!) I want to talk a little about consistency.

"As long as you are running consistently you will see results."

I once had the great fortune to train alongside Mary Cain in Bronxville NY for a couple of workout sessions. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! The workouts that her coach had prescribed for those sessions were unforgettable. It was some of the most intense training I had ever done, and I knew that combined with my previous training leading up to that point, I was breaking new ground with my fitness. I started getting excited about my upcoming races because I knew I was capable of running some personal best times, but soon after that my running became inconsistent and within only a couple of months I couldn't even tell that I had done those workouts.

Anything done consistently yields results, and running is no different. You would be amazed by how much you gain by sticking to a plan and doing it no matter what obstacles are in your way. Even if it means slowing down or keeping all of your runs easy. As long as you are running consistently you will see results. This is one of the simplest concepts and one of the easiest things to control, but it can also be one of the hardest things to maintain.

Run better. Run smarter. Run for life.
